Located near Disney, this family owned Halal Middle-Eastern Restaurant has been serving locals and visitors for well over a decade. This restaurant offers a much more formal dining experience compared to other Halal restaurants in the area. A nice feature is that it often open late till around 11pm on most nights, so you can enjoy the day at the theme parks and go out for a nice dinner to cap of the evening.

The family also owns several other halal restaurants in the Orlando area, most notably Flame Kabob off “Restaurant’s Row” near Universal Studios (it’s on our list of TOP 5Halal spots around Universal Studios).

FOOD

The menu consists primarily of the classic Middle-Eastern items like shawarma, gyro, kabob and kafta. They take their inspiration from Lebanese and Moroccan traditions. The menu does extend to offer American classics and a Kid’s menu. The grilled meats are definitely the highlight of the meal. If you’re not sure what to get, they offer a combination platter with Shish Tawook, Kabob (lamb) and Kafta (beef and lamb) severed over a bed of brown rice and salad with a side of garlic and tahini sauce.

SERVICE

Being in the heart of the tourist district, customer service is a key to a thriving restaurant. They are very prompt with seating their guests and taking orders. They are also attentive to customer needs, such as those with children.

LOCATION

The restaurant is located in a plaza at the northwest corner of US Hwy 192 and SR 535 and may be difficult to spot. There is a Taco Bell that is more visible as a landmark in the same plaza.

Interior dining space at Jerusalem Restaurant in Kissimmee Fl

The dim lighting, brick interior with cascading arches relying heavily on earth tone colors create the illusion that you’ve been transported to somewhere in North Africa. Dallah pots , Tajine dishes and even a magic genie lamp are on display to reinforce experience as you move through the restaurant.

Tajine Dishes on Display

Dining booths line the walls of the restaurant, while the center is reserved for tables able to accommodate larger dining parities. There is also an area set apart for a more private experience. Prayer space is available near the back and there is ample parking in front of the restaurant.

PRICE

Given that it is located in a tourist district and the décor of the restaurant to give you a more encompassing experience, you can expect to pay a premium. The portions are adequate and there is added value from the dine-in experience to justify the premium, especially for those looking to celebrate a special occasion.

OVERALL

Jerusalem has been a staple Halal restaurant in the greater Orlando area for almost 15 years, which is a testimony to the quality ingredients and excellent service they provide. Definitely this Halal spot is on the short list if you’re looking for a more formal dining experience or a special spot to celebrate, and you’re in the southern end of Orlando.
