Nestled in the heart of Kensington Market in downtown Toronto, Burgernator has been serving up specialty Halal burgers for almost a decade. Kensington Market is a highly walkable area in downtown with many specialty and artisan food shops, markets and restaurants. The mission of Burgernator is to rid “the city (Toronto) of half-hearted and overcooked burgers, processed cheese, and questionable toppings”. To say the least, they are winning this battle.
Strolling in the sand with the cool ocean breeze brushing against your face on Miami’s North beach is the perfect way to spend the day. But, the hot sun can leave you looking for some shade to recharge. That’s why it so refreshing to see Juicy Gyros just steps away from the beach on Collins Avenue. For the better part of a decade they have been providing tasty halal gyros to hungry tanned visitors.
Alex’s has been a household name amongst Orlando natives as the spot to go for Halal Philly Cheese Steaks. They have been serving up freshly made to order sandwiches since the late 1990s. Due to construction and road expansion, they had to move from their old location to their new location near the intersection of Colonial and Goldenrod in about 2012.
Located in the southeast corner of the greater Orlando area about 20-30 minutes away from the theme parks, Loop Gyros is a great Halal fast-food spot to hit up, especially late as they are open till midnight if not later. They have 2 locations in Kissimmee and we visited their newer location next to the large shopping complex called “The Loop”.
This fast-food restaurant is conveniently located on International Drive in the heart of the tourist district in Orlando. Their menu is split between classical American fast-food and traditional Middle-Eastern dishes. It makes for a great pit-stop for those enjoying a leisurely walk along I-Drive or not wanting to travel too far for a meal after a long day at the theme parks like Universal Studios or SeaWorld.

With several locations across the greater Tampa Bay area, Zeko’s Mediterranean Grill, this locally owned chain serves Halal Mediterranean foods. They were founded in 2006 and have been expanding since with their emphasis on healthy, handmade restaurant quality meals. With these values in place, it makes for an attractive destination for tourists and locals alike after a long day in the sun. The restaurants have a casual family friendly vibe great for dining in. In this review, we visited Zeko’s Mediterranean Grill in St. Petersburg near the gulf coast beaches.
