This fast-food restaurant is conveniently located on International Drive in the heart of the tourist district in Orlando. Their menu is split between classical American fast-food and traditional Middle-Eastern dishes. It makes for a great pit-stop for those enjoying a leisurely walk along I-Drive or not wanting to travel too far for a meal after a long day at the theme parks like Universal Studios or SeaWorld.

Food

This restaurant severs typical Middle-Eastern dishes like shawarma wraps, falafels and hummus. They also serve American classics like pizza, burgers (click here for my Top 5 List of Halal Burgers in Orlando), chicken wings and tenders. The foods are made to order, however many of the menu items are not made from scratch in-house and so the quality does suffer some for the sake of speed.

Service

This is a fast-food service style restaurant and you place your orders and pick up from the counter. The food is prepared quickly and efficiently. The staff is friendly.

Location

Halal Food Express has a location right on I-Drive which is very convenient for visitors to the area. It is locate very close to the intersection of I-Drive and Universal Blvd, and it is lit like a Christmas Tree with many neon signs in the windows, making it easy to spot if you’re not driving too fast. There are only a few parking spots in front but there are public parking lots further down just a short walk away.

The inside of the restaurant has tables and booths setup for dining parties between 2-6. The counter to order is at the back of the dining space and the bathroom is located down a hallway at the back of the restaurant. There are large hand-painted murals on the wall depicting the 3 holy sites of Islam, the Kaba, Prophet’s Mosque and Masjid al-Aqsa which is a nice feature piece.

Price

The restaurant is located in a tourist area and as such the price point is a little higher than comparable restaurants offering the same menu items. However, there are menu items priced for all budgets and appetites. A specialty pizza can cost in the $20 range while a sharwama can cost around $8.

Overall

Halal Food Express is an excellent choice for visitors to enjoy a quick bite to eat or to sit down for a good dinner after a long day at the theme parks. The food is good but comes at a premium for the convenience of the location. The service is good and prompt. Worth a consideration if you are looking for a quick bite on the go or if you are on a tight schedule.
